There are many opportunities throughout the year for parents/carers to visit the school both formally and informally. Class newsletters are sent home at the beginning of each term with details of curricular topics, offsite visits and homework provision. Parents’ Evenings in the Autumn/Spring Terms are opportunities to discuss learning, progress and targets. A written report is sent home in the Summer Term and parents/carers are offered the chance to discuss learning and behaviour.
Parents/carers are welcome to contact the school should they have concerns about aspects of their child’s learning, engagement or development. Queries about the timetable or homework are usually resolved with a quick chat with the class teacher after school. Appointments may be made with the class teacher, FSA or the SENCo to discuss more serious issues. Curriculum evenings and workshops are held during the year in order to engage parents/carers in supporting their children’s learning.
Each year, you and your child will be asked to sign a Home-School Agreement. This document sets out the role and responsibilities of staff, governors, parents/carers and pupils. Key school policies are published on the school’s website together with news items, term dates and letters.
Parents, carers and friends are invited to Sharing Assemblies, to sporting events, concerts and Parents' Association events. All parents and carers are encouraged to share their skills and to contribute to the life of the school. We welcome assistance with reading, cookery, IT, craft work, swimming and clubs. If you have time and talent to offer, and would like to help, please contact your child’s teacher.
