Ascot Heath CE Junior School

Bracknell Forest Indoor Athletics Finals

Ascot Heath CE Juniors runners-up at Bracknell District Finals.

The Year 5 and 6 team representing Ascot Heath came away from Bracknell Leisure centre laden with medals and trophies after an excellent effort at the district Indoor Athletics Finals on Friday 26th January. The team competed in a wide variety of events such as: foam javelin, standing long jump, speed bounce and a variety of relays. Each member competed in at least one relay, one throwing event and one jumping event. After a closely fought battle with Whitegrove Primary School, the team achieved a silver medal for finishing just 16 points behind when the scores from the whole competition were added up. This was a wonderful effort in an event that is always furiously competitive.

As well as being excellent at their events, the team also demonstrated sportsmanship of the highest level when interacting with peers from other schools; resilience to continue trying their best when things went wrong and superb teamwork to support one another throughout the afternoon. They were wonderful ambassadors for the school, and made everyone linked to the school proud.

Many thanks to the large number of parents who came to support and cheer the children on (sometimes very loudly).
